OHE Trust
Sustainability through Responsibility

About Us

The Otto Herrigel Environmental Trust (“OHET”) is a non-governmental environmental conservation organization with the aim to support projects and activities within Namibia that promote the conservation of biodiversity, or the ecologically sustainable use of natural resources, within Namibia, or within a particular area or region of Namibia, for the benefit of the people in Namibia, or the residents of that area.

The OHET was named after the late Dr. Otto Herrigel, a businessman and the first  Minister of Finance in Namibia.  The OHET is now spearheaded by his wife and fellow environmentalist, Mrs. Karin Herrigel, who is also the founder of the OHET.  Karin shares the passion that Otto had for the Namibian environment and its people by seeking to create awareness, educate and improve the Namibian environment by campaigning for positive change. The OHET works with different communities and stakeholders in Namibia to conserve natural resources and biodiversity.  The key strategies include creating awareness, providing financial assistance, lobbying for legislative support, capacity building and often direct involvement in selected conservation activities.

The OHET is currently fully self-funded.
